Our Lady of ....
In March of 2019, I attended an Art Immersion tour coordinated by Jewel Murphy with mixed media artist Rogene Mañas, which I write about in my Travel journal. The pieces above are from that workshop. Rogene generously provided materials for projects such as these collages/assemblages above. She has a body of work called Everyday Saints - these are 2 of my versions. The one on the left is "Our Lady of Spirituality, not Religiosity." The one on the right is "Our Lady of Going Gray Gracefully." Rogeneʻs book, Artful Clay gives a lot of guidance on this medium.

Our Lady of Speaking Up
At the Art Immersion Tour in Oaxaca in March of 2019, I met a woman, a curator and organizer, Marietta Bernstorff who was coordinating a project to protest violence against women. The vision was that women from all over the world would contribute a fabric square for a quilt that would be unfurled at the Zocalo in Mexico City at some point. This was my contribution. The extraordinary event for The Patchwork Healing Blanket: La Manta de Curación occurred in January, 2020. The plan is for it to travel to other places and countries.
I have been a consumer of online classes from the Domestika platform, mostly in Spanish with English subtitles. These are projects from the course, Modern Watercolor Techniques with Ana Victoria Calderón.
One of my classes in Domestika is English Calligraphy from A to Z with Bego Viñuela Galarraga
I post these 3 in order of skill. I think I've gotten better with practice.

Procreate vs. Watercolor
Learning Procreate on the iPad. Actually both of these were made on Procreate, but the lettering on the right was lifted from watercolor and pasted onto Procreate. The rocks on both as well.
After taking a couple of Ana's courses, I've become inspired to continue quote painting with flower borders. Click on each one to see full view.
Procreate Digital Art
Another class at Domestika Calligraphy and Lettering for Instagram with Procreate taught by Nubia Navarro (nubikini) Lot of learning packed in one course.
4/2020 - Taking a course on Botanical Illustration on the Domestika platform. These two were assignments. The verse on the fig painting is on my mind a lot! Wrote this blog piece with examination of evil in mind.
Comic Book Creation
On my list of things to do was to publish a book of the monologues used in Honolulu Theatre for Youth's annual production called Christmas Talk Story which I was involved in from 2000-2007. I decided to make that a project in the pandemic quarantine. Here are the first draft pages of the first 2 stories. It's been difficult, but getting there. Hope to finish in time for Christmas this year.
30 Day Challenge
I am taking a Skillshare class on Finding Your Signature Design Style. The biggest assignment was to come up with a 30 day challenge. I wanted to do both - but I think I'll choose the one on the left. Everyday will be a different concept. The series is The Gifts You Give (I think).
Below are slide shows of 30 days of painting on this theme. I learned a lot and tried to improve along the way. At some point, I actually used real water color paper.
Voting Messages on Instagram
When it was 50 days until Election Day, I decided to do a Voting message a day to post on Instagram. Here are a few of my favorites.
Developing an Illustration Style
I took a Skillshare class - The Style Class: work Out Your Illustration Style in a Daily Project with Tome Froese. The project is an ABD project, in which you do an illustration with each letter of the alphabet. My project theme was "By Their Fruits You Shall Know Them." int which I chose one fruit and a value/action/behavior that is a "fruit" that I aspire to exemplify. Here is my project:
