The first thing I notice at bon dance is that it is inter-generational. I love that there are people of all ages who enjoy dancing. The young are noticeably more lively, putting skips and hops and double steps where we would do a step, but that is natural diversity.
Here is the story that I told at the KPRG Summer Solstice Poetry and Storytelling Competition held in June 2014. I didn't read it, so it didn't come out exactly like this.
I had a very eventful first week of my vacation in Guam. Not only did I perform a poem for the first time at an open mic, I told a story in front of an audience. This was not my first time, but it was my first competition. I would have done it even if it wasn't a competition though. I was, and am, in the mood for doing new things.
One of the first things I did on my Guam vacation was perform in an open mic poetry reading. Some may be surprised at this. It was the first time I had done this, but I have been a fan of spoken word for a while and I had actually written this poem meant to be recited out loud. When I wrote it, I spoke it, listening for the rhythms in the phrasing. It was a bit nerve-wracking, but somehow I was ready for it. This was such a relaxed, accepting crowd. The hosts were very encouraging. It also helped that it was a bar, so there was a little bit of altered consciousness. Just a little.
I don't remember how Weebly came into my life. Whatever they did to promote themselves worked to get me to try them. Most website companies draw you into their web based on their "free" offerings. I have to admit, I didn't do much comparisons of other companies. I jumped in and hoped that they were as easy as they said they were.
