... a blog to make sense of the world through writing and acts of creativity, to reflect on and respond to the crazy world in which we live. Can beauty, creativity, compassion, and activism emerge from this tension?
One of the reasons I wanted to maintain this blog was to motivate myself to be creative, and at the same time, motivate others to be creative. Well, then life comes along and there go the best intentions.
The last I worked on this blog was in April. At the end of April, I went to Guam to work on the production of a play I had written several (80s) years ago. The summer before last, I wrote a grant for a non-profit run by a friend of mine, to re-stage this play, Pulani. We got the grant and so - the trip to Guam, and the work to get the project coordinated began.
It was an incredible experience. If you follow me on Facebook, I did almost daily posts. The result was that we accomplished what we set out to do, had an incredible summer with wonderful kids and an outstanding adult production team. I will do another post with a few of my favorite photos, but on this blog, I want to reflect on the purpose of this blog.
It's kind of ironic. When you are totally immersed in the creative life that you have always dreamed of living, it's hard to be disciplined enough to write and reflect about it. One of my favorite writer/artists/entrepreneur, Austin Kleon, does have this discipline and it serves him well as he cultivates a following and makes a good living selling his books.
So I don't want to give this up. But I do think I owe you an apology. I hope you will still want to follow my creative life adventures, no matter how sporadically I manage to post about it.
