I bought a book by a writer-artist-entrepreneur, Austin Kleon, titled Show Your Work, and he advised folks aspiring to be financially viable doing creative work, to get your own website. He said if there's one take-away that readers should get, it's that. So I followed his advice and actually paid for a domain name.
Pretty amazing what taking that step does for your motivation level. It is self-affirmation. When I was teaching full-time, that was my identity so paying for a domain name and website for my writing seemed excessive. I think I can do this. I will do this. By the time you read this, I did do this.
