This year, 2016, inspired, I decided to participate in the #365grateful project where you commit to taking a photograph of something you are grateful for every day of the year. At the same time, I had become interested in what Instagram was about, mainly through my daughter @hellodanz. So, Instagram became a way to do the 365grateful.

In the same way that I am committed to my step goals because I have this fitness tracker (UpMove), I am mentally engaged in keeping up with my Instagram grateful post daily. It's not that my life centers around these 2 things (walking and instagramming), but yeah. Not bad habits, right?

Walking is a great fitness activity but because I am also looking for an "instagram-worthy" image, I need to walk someplace where there is likely to be great imagery. So I usually go to the beach, which is about a 15 minute drive from my apartment. Once a week, I drive to the less-developed side of the island, which is great for images but also truly healing for my soul.

Ipan, Talofofo on Easter Sunday. Truly beautiful place.
I am looking for images that touch my soul, for which I am grateful for. In another post, I will write about "messages from the Universe."
My posts are not totally from my walks. Gratitude is the name of the game, so if I am grateful for a wonderful meal, or my guitar and ukulele, I will post that too.

I am not ashamed that I am using this technology to enhance my experience of life. In the same way that my fitness tracker WORKS to motivate me to work towards my fitness goals, this Instagram habit WORKS to force me look for beauty, for messages from the Universe, for ways to express gratitude for just being ALIVE, experiencing LIFE.

And here is something on this subject from my philosopher crush, Jason Silva.
